Helena Marchetti

Helena Marchetti has taught Latin and ancient history at a secondary school in Manchester for the past nine years. She holds an M.A. in Classical Studies from the University of Edinburgh, where she focused on archaic Greek poetry and ritual.

She started writing for Old Greek Gods to give her students (and curious adults) a place to read accurate, source-driven mythology that doesn't talk down to anyone. Most of what she writes here grew out of lesson handouts that students kept asking to keep.

Outside the classroom she runs a small mythology reading group at her local library and co-hosts a monthly podcast on Greek poetry in translation.
